Paper is one of the four great inventions of ancient China. As early as 105 AD, Cai Lun summarized the use of hemp since the Western Han Dynasty

The experience of high-quality fiber papermaking has improved the papermaking technology, using bark, hemp, rags, old fishing nets, etc. as raw materials to make paper.

came to Europe after papermaking. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Dutch-style beater appeared, which changed the process of pounding into pulp. This was an important step in the mechanization of the papermaking process. In 1798, the Frenchman Roberto obtained the patent for the hand-operated endless net paper machine, which was later approved by the United Kingdom. Funded by the Neal Brothers of Renfu County, in 1803, the British technician Tang Jinjing improved the fourdrinier paper machine that can continuously form paper, and successfully produced paper in 1805; in 1809, the British Dickinson successfully trial-produced the cylinder paper machine.

In terms of material preparation and pulping, in 1839, Peter of Germany began to use a cooking pot to cook old cotton cloth for pulping; in 1843, Klerer of Germany invented the ground-wood pulping method for stripping wood fibers, and F?rter spent ten years of improvement. Achieved success; in 1851, Burgess in the United Kingdom and Watt in the United States invented caustic soda wood pulping; in 1857, Tillman in the United States invented sulfite wood pulping technology; in 1884, German chemist Dahl invented kraft wood pulping technology. These inventions opened the way to wood as the main raw material for papermaking. By the early 20th century, papermaking machinery had become a large-scale and high-yield industrial machine.
