On the Significance of Recycled Papermaking to Circular Economy

Release Time:2013-11-12   Browse:998

China Paper Equipment Network has always believed that the recycling of waste paper is the most direct and economical part of the development of circular economy in the paper industry, and is a direct measure to achieve reduction, recycling, and regeneration to achieve the goal of zero emissions. Waste paper recycling is of great significance to the development of circular economy in the paper industry.

my country’s annual paper and cardboard production volume is 43 million tons and waste paper volume is 14 million tons. Based on the production of 0.8 tons of paper from 1 ton of waste paper, 12 million tons of paper can be produced, accounting for 28% of my country’s paper production. Waste paper is used as raw material to produce recycled paper, which is 50% cheaper than wood pulp paper. According to expert calculations, 3 meters of wood are required to produce 1 ton of paper and 10 20-year-old masson pine trees need to be felled. Making full use of my country's waste paper resources has considerable economic, environmental and ecological benefits.

The existing 14 million tons of waste paper is recycled only 30%, which is a big gap compared with the waste paper recycling of other countries in the world. Japan recycled 30.71 million tons of waste paper in 2000, and waste paper accounted for 58% of the raw materials for paper and cardboard production. In 2000, Germany recycled 13.75 million tons of waste paper, with a recovery rate of 71%. Finland is a pulp exporter, but still attaches great importance to the recycling of waste paper, recycling 600,000 tons per year, with a recycling rate of 81%. If my country's waste paper recycling rate is greatly increased, my country's waste paper resource utilization has great potential.

With the continuous development of our society and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the consumption of paper products continues to increase, the per capita occupation of newspapers, periodicals, and books increases, and the amount of waste paper resources is increasing. The prospects for recycling of waste paper resources are broad.
