The development of paper has a long history. With the continuous development, there are currently more than a thousand types of paper, but there are only more than a hundred types that we often contact, and only a dozen types are involved in printing and binding. There are two ways to classify paper: one is based on different papermaking methods; the other is based on different types of paper.
Classified by papermaking method
1. Sizing paper and non-sizing paper According to the needs of use, the paper can be sized or not. Sizing paper is called offset paper, single-sided sizing is single-sided offset paper, double-sided sizing is double-sided offset paper, and non-sizing is general paper.
Coated paper and non-coated paper Coated paper, also known as coated paper. It is a kind of paper made by coating, whitening and calendering on the base paper.
2. Colored paper and white paper Colored paper, that is, dyed paper, can be processed into various colored papers with organic or inorganic dyes. White paper is divided into whitening agent and non-whitening agent paper. Paper without whitening is also called natural paper.
3. Rolled paper and sheet paper Rolled paper is a packaging form in which paper is continuously rewinded into a tube according to a certain width; sheet paper is a kind of continuous paper that is cut into the required format according to certain specifications package style. The roll paper is used for continuous printing by the rotary printing machine, and the single paper can be used on the general printing machine.

1. Printing paper Commonly used printing paper includes letterpress, press, offset, coated paper, etc.

Newsprint: newspapers, periodicals, some books and manuals, etc.
Offset paper: high-end books, manuals, magazines, documents, general color pictures, picture albums, covers, trademarks, calendars, etc.
